The California International Business University (CIBU) was chartered in 1995 in San Diego, California as a private, non-profit institution of higher learning with a mission to serve students from around the world. CIBU strives to be an excellent model of the smaller, focused universities in the world, and is one of America’s only internationally chartered schools with a predominantly international student body.

CIBU has welcomed over 3000 students from over 85 countries. The School has hosted satellite degree program centers in Asia and Europe, and has conducted extensive training and corporate education programs with international corporations. One of the teaching philosophies of CIBU is to expose its students to real-world practical cases representing global companies at the multinational level as well as startup companies, which are attempting to begin initial efforts in overseas markets. In addition, the School is committed to fostering long term relationships with select companies which are able to welcome student research projects, expose students to executives and actual emerging growth challenges. Such cases and companies exemplify and represent the highest standards of industry leadership, creativity, and educational-cultural exchange.

We have named such cases “Master Cases” and the companies that participate “Master Case Sponsors”. CIBU has from time to time recognized individuals from its own faculty, from the faculties of other universities, and from the ranks of executives and entrepreneurs who exemplify preeminent leadership and support for global business education.

We have awarded three such “Distinguished Global Educator” Awards in the School’s fifteen-year history:

- Dr. David Feldman
- Dr. William Locke
- Dr. Carl Nelson
