Yoon Jeong Amelia Kim comes from a well-educated family in Seoul, South Korea (Republic of Korea).  Seoul is the capital of South Korea and is known for its combination of history and modern culture.

After seeing a posting on her university website for “Business Communications” at California International Business University in San Diego California, Yoon Jeong decided to strengthen her “Global Eyes.”

Right away, Yoon Jeong knew that she had made the right decision.  Once she started classes at CIBU she felt comfortable.  Yoon Jeong liked that the instructors she had were passionate and helped students with personalized instruction.  For example, she got helpful advice from her instructor when working on a resume development assignment.  Weeks later, she used the resume to find in internship at a successful employer in San Diego.

The Business Communication course also helped Yoon Jeong with her cultural transition, “If I would not have taken the course, I would not have been able to adapt well.”  More specifically, she credits CIBU with helping her interact with Americans.  Furthermore, Yoon Jeong is living with American roommates whom she gets along with well.

Although Yoon Jeong continues to work in event planning in San Diego she plans on leveraging her education into a once in a lifetime opportunity; her dream is to be an event manager in the 2018 Winter Olympics in  Pyeongchang, South Korea.

Yoon Jeong’s advice for students in the College of Life-Long Learning: “Mingle with the San Diego Community, meet people.”

“California International Business University is absolutely a stepping stone,” she said, “providing a solid set of tools to use in the future.”
